The bell rang indicating that class was over and interrupted my thoughts. I picked up my books and exited the class behind everyone else. Now it's time for that English test.
* F L A S H B A C K *
It was the middle of July and Jan and I had just turned 13 and we had gotten the worst birthday present ever! We had to move. We didn't want to go and leave all our family friends. Justin and Bryan had no problem with it. Our parents tried everything to get us to cope with the news of moving to another state, but had no luck. When we packed all of our things we had our friends come over for one last time. Our friends came over and gave us going away gifts. Which only made Jan and I cry even harder. We really didn't want to go.
The next day we put our things in the car and the humongous U-HAUL truck and hugged our friends good-bye one last time before getting in the car and leaving for our new home in Atlanta.
18 hours later!
Our parents woke us all up when we pulled up to our new house.

Alishia: It's so big!
Jan: It's like a movie stars house!
We all piled out the car grabbing various suitcases or boxes. Our dad, took the keys to our brand new house out his pocket and we walked up the stairs and he unlocked the door. The inside was even better than the outside.
DAD: Welcome home. :]
We all ran inside looking at the house.
MOM: Calm down and help bring the rest of the stuff in the house.
We did as we were told and help bring just about all the boxes in the house.
MOM: Is there anything else outside?
Alishia: There's I think, one more box. I'll get it.
MOM: Okay, honey.
She was on the phone talking to our Granny and cousins. I walked back out side to grab the last box that was at the bottom of the stairs when three boys approached me. One was light skinned with curly jet black hair, and big eyes and he was kinda tall. Another one was kinda short, and light skinned with braids. And the other boy, was short and skinny with a fade and Carmel colored skin. I thought he was really cute.
Boy#1: You new here, shawty?
The boy with the curly hair must have been their leader, and he talked country as hell and had the nerve to step up to me.
Alishia: What's it to you, B?
The expression on him and his friends face, told me that they haven't really met nobody with an attitude or at least a New Yorker.
Boy#1: My name is PATRICK, shawty. And I was trying to be nice you, but yo attitude is all fucked up.
Alishia: Yo, my name ain't ya SHAWTY, B. And come up off yo high horse, yo. B, is a name that I use for people that I don't know. And don't talk about my attitude, you don't know shit about me.
Boy#2: Sorry, about my friend. My name is Kelly.
Alishia: Nice to meet you. Yo, your homeboy is kinda loco, huh?
Kelly: Just a little.
The boy named Kelly talked country as hell too and he was kinda nice. I noticed the small gap he had when talked. I couldn't help but look at their other friend, who was dribbling a basketball. He looked kinda irritated, I bet they dragged him along.
Alishia: Who's your other friend?
Kelly: Carnell.
Alishia: Does he talk?
Kelly: Yeah, A little bit.
Alishia: Okay.
Kelly: What's your name?
I told him my name and his friend Patrick cam back over to the step after talking to Carnell.
Patrick: How old are you?
Alishia: Why?
Patrick: My cousin wants to know.
Alishia: Who is your cousin?
Patrick: Carnell.
Alishia: The quiet boy?
Patrick: Yeah.
Alishia: If he really wants to know he'll ask me his self. Look I have to go in the house. Maybe I'll see you all tomorrow.
I picked up the box and turned around to go back in the house. I heard them talking amongst themselves as I walked back in the house. I put the box down and waved at them before closing the door.
MOM: What took you so long?
Alishia: These boys came up to me and started talking to me.
MOM: Mmhmm. Go upstairs and find a room.
Alishia: How many rooms is there?
MOM: Seven.
Alishia: I get my own room?
MOM: Yeah.
I ran up to my mom and kissed her cheek and hugged her, then I went and found my Dad and I hugged and kissed him too, then I went to go and find a room. I ran up the stairs and I came to my self staring down a long hallway. I went all the way to the end of the hall way and found a room with red walls and no one to claim it. I declared it to be my room.
I fixed my things in my room the way I wanted them and then I put all my clothes and called my friends back home. Mainly my best friend Charmaine. I dialed the number on my red telephone and waited about 3 three rings before someone picked up.
?: Hello?
Alishia: Hello? Can I speak to Charmaine, please?
?: This is her.
Alishia: Oh my god. C.C. We made it. It's so hot here and you will never guess what just happened to me.
I rolled over on my back and put my head over the side of the bed.
Charmaine: What happened?
Alishia: Okay I met these three boys. Well really only 2 of them the other one don't talk.--
Charmaine: What is he a mute?
Alishia: No. I guess he's just shy. But Anyways his cousin Patrick --
I told her the whole story of what had happened no longer than 45 minutes ago and I was in the middle of my sentence when I heard something from the window. I sat up and that Patrick boy was in my window. He waved at me, I nervously waved back.
Alishia: C.C. hold on, that Patrick boy is in my window.
Charmaine: Don't open the window he maybe a crack head! He might try and kill you!
Alishia: He can't be no older than 16. I'm sure he ain't crazy. I'm positive he ain't no crackhead.
Charmaine: Ask him.
Alishia: Okay.
I opened up window and I saw that he was sitting on a big tree branch.
Alishia: What the hell are you doing?
Patrick: My cousin likes you and he wanted to know how old you were but you walked away before he could come and talk to you.
Alishia: Well, where is your cousin now?
Patrick: Down there.
He pointed to the ground out side the house. I looked out the window and there he was in basket ball shorts and white muscle tee. I waved and he waved back.
Alishia: Oh shit! Charmaine!
Patrick: Who is Charmaine?
Alishia: My best friend back home.
Patrick: Where is that?
I put my hand up and put my attention back to the phone.
Alishia: C.C. you still there?
Charmaine: You almost got hung up on.
Alishia: Sorry. Patrick and his quiet cousin are outside.
I told Patrick to get out the tree and go around to the front door, cause him in a tree is not something I was used to. I continued my conversation with Charmaine as I walked out my room and down the stairs to the front door. There was a knock and I looked through the peep-hole and it was Patrick. His cousin was behind him. I opened up the door when Patrick was talking to Carnell.
Patrick: Just talk to her! I think she likes you anyway.
Carnell: Okay. I'll talk to her.
Patrick: Cool.
He turned around and his eyes almost popped out of his head.
Patrick: How long have you been standing there?
Alishia: 5 seconds.
Patrick: So you gonna let us in?
Alishia: Only if your cousin says more than two words.
Charmaine had already hung up before I opened the door and she said to call her back tomorrow.
Patrick: Say Something!
He looked almost desperate. Janice walked past and saw that the door was open.
Jan: Who are you talking to?
Alishia: Patrick and his cousin that don't talk.
Carnell: I do talk.
Patrick: HA! He said three words. Now can we come in?
Alishia: Yeah.
I moved aside and let them in. Patrick was staring at Janice and me. I snapped my fingers in his face.
Jan: What's your problem?
Patrick: There's two of you.
Janice & Alishia: We're twins.
Patrick: I can see that.
Janice: Is there a problem with that?
Patrick: No. Now I have two pretty faces to stare at.
Janice: I like him already!
Patrick: She likes me.
Alishia: Your a dork.
Janice: My names Janice. She smiled
Patrick: I'm Patrick.
Janice: I know.
There was a short silence.
Jan: Do you guys live around here?
Carnell: I live next door. Patrick is visiting.
Alishia: So you do speak in whole sentences.
Carnell: Yeah.
Alishia: Why don't you talk like your country cousin?
Patrick: I am not country!
Carnell: I'm not from here.
Alishia: Where are you from?
Carnell: Connecticut. Patrick is from Kansas.
Alishia: Like Dorothy? From the Wizard Of Oz?
Carnell: Yeah. He kinda laughed.
Janice and me showed them around the house and that took like 45 minutes because we didn't know where anything was. But it still fun to find what was behind all those doors 'til we accidentally came upon my 16 year old brother Ty's room. He opened the door with a weight in his hand. We all ran down the hall and ended up in my room with the door locked. We all laughed when we realized be wasn't chasing us.
Carnell: You never did tell me how old you were.
Alishia: 13.
Carnell: Dang. I won't be 13 for another 4 months.
Patrick: Where are y'all from, anyways?
Janice: New York.
Alishia: B-X baby!
We laughed some more and continued conversations until they had to leave.
We been best friends ever since.

lol it was just a statement, in the beginning you really couldn't stand him. but I'll explain that later. :]

I walked in class and took my normal seat on the side of the class near the middle. There was a few people in the class already so I didn't mind being in there. Group by group people came in to class. By the second bell everyone was in class. Carnell took his seat next to mine and Rosie took her seat in the back of the class. Carnell took his notebook out of his backpack and scribbled something down before handing it to me. I opened the paper and read it.
I scribbled my answer down and handed it back to him.
He scribbled down something else and handed it back.
I folded the paper up and put it in my pocket. Our teacher Mr. Washington passed out the tests. I read all the questions on the 3 page test before answering them. about halfway in to the class, Mr. Washington took attendance and I handed in me and Carnell's test, since we finished at the same time. I sat back down at my desk and pulled out my sidekick and turned the volume all the way down and started playing Bob's journey to the center of the earth, until my game was interrupted by a text message.

The bell rang interrupting our texting session we grabbed our things and left. Me and Carnell went to our locker to exchange books and whatnot.
Alishia: I can't wait til school is over!
I re-applied my lip gloss in the mirror on the locker door.
Carnell: I can't wait for school to be out either. I'm glad it's Friday.
Alishia: I can't find find my shorts, I got gym next hour.
Carnell: Use my extra ones.
Alishia: Okay.
Carnell: What do you care about shorts anyways?
Alishia: Patrick wants me to come to gym today.
Carnell: Oh. Did he know what you were doing?
Alishia: No. It's none of his business.
Carnell: That's my cousin though.
Alishia: Then you tell him that I was skipping class to be with you.
Carnell: So I can hear his speech about education? I don't think so.
Alishia: You need anything out of here?
Carnell: My chemistry book.
I handed him the book and grabbed the black basketball shorts before closing the locker. We walked through the crowd of people to go to our classes. Carnell walked me to the gymnasium where Patrick met us at the door, ending our conversation.
Patrick: So, you finally decided to come to class!
Alishia: Yeah.
Patrick: You even had my cousin escort you.
Alishia: Yeah, something like that.
I gave Carnell a hug and told him I would see him at lunch. He left and I went to go change my clothes. When I came out the locker room Patrick was talking to Marcel, Kelly and Janice. I casually walked over to them as if I had no problem with what Marcel did this morning.
Alishia: Wassup y'all?
Patrick: Nothing just talking about stuff.
Alishia: Stuff like what?
Patrick: Nothing.
Alishia: Okay. Jan I talked to Ty this morning.
Jan: Really? What happened?
Marcel: Who's Ty?
Patrick: Their crazy big brother.
Jan: My brother is not crazy. He's just a little over protective.
Patrick: What made you talk to him?
Alishia: He's my brother and I had a problem this morning.
I eyed Marcel, to make sure he knew the problem I was talking about was him.
Jan: So, Ty is coming? Here?
Alishia: Yeah.
Jan: Today?
Alishia: Yeah.
Jan: When?
Alishia: Later.
The Gym teacher Mr. Smith came in and took attendance then told us that cause today was Friday that we could have a free day. Go figure, the one day I show up to class, we don't have to do anything. I decided to play basket ball for a little bit. After 10 minutes of shooting hoops I got bored and sat down with Jan and Patrick.
Alishia: Peanut, what are you and J doing for lunch, today?
Patrick: Staying here. I have a test in calculus today, and I can't be late.
Alishia: Good luck with that.
Patrick: What are you doing for lunch?
Alishia: Me and Carnell are going to McDonald's for lunch and then to the record store.
Patrick: They still have record stores?
Alishia: No, the C.D. shop, stupid.
Patrick: Whatever.
Jan: Don't call my boo stupid.
Alishia: Then tell Peanut to stop acting like it.
Patrick: I'm not acting!
Alishia: How did you even get into calculus?
Patrick: I'm good with numbers.
He smiled rally big and Jan kissed his cheek and hugged him. I grabbed my iPod* out of my back pack and turned it to I'll Make Love To You :] by Boyz II Men ad blasted it. The song was on so loud, If I didn't notice people leaving, I probably would have still been in the gymnasium day dreaming about Carnell singing to me. I know he's my best friend, but the way I feel for him, I want it to be so much more. I can't help how I feel about him. I went in to the locker room and changed back in to my pants and put on some deodorant and mat Janice and Patrick at the lunch table where everybody normally is.
Our friend Alexis was there with her boyfriend Dustin. She was about 7 months pregnant by him. I gave them hugs and sat down at the table next to Kelly and Rosie who were kissing.
Patrick and Jan started their little love thing. I felt sick to my stomach, all this love crap made me nauseous. I was happy for them but all the love was killing me, it was gross. someone covered my eyes just when I thought I was gonna puke.
?: Guess who?
Alishia: I give up.
I knew it was Carnell the whole time, he's the only person that does that to me. He moved his hands and pulled me up from the seat.
Carnell: You ready to go?
Alishia: Yeah. Watching these people is making me me want to throw up.
He took my hand and we left the building. We went to McDonald's and ate for about ten minutes and then we went to the record store, there were only 2 or 3 people in the shop, that's why we liked to go in there in the middle of the day. We walked in the shop and went our separate ways. I walked over to the hip-hop section and walked over to the R&B section. I picked up a random CD and pretended to read what was on the back before turning to look at Carnell. Only thing about it was that he wasn't even standing there anymore. I went back to looking the other Cd's.
I took my phone to look at the time, we had about 10 minutes to get back to school and we were way across town. I didn't even care, I was tired and I wanted to go home. I was bored of looking at the hip-hop Cd's so I walked up to the counter to see what magazines they had. Nothing interesting. I saw Carnell had walked back over to the R&B section of the store. I told him the time situation that I wanted to go home, he had no problem with taking his sweet ass to get back to school, but said he would take me home as soon as he found the CD he wanted. I told him that I was gonna go to the beauty supply store next door and get a few things.
I walked and went to the front counter to look at what new tongue rings they had, cause I wanted to change mine from a gold spike to a red one or black one. I twisted the carousel and there were no black ones so I picked the solid red one. Then I got some black nail polish and a few belts, payed for my items and walked out the store. I spotted Carnell walked to his car, so I hurried up and walked over.
Alishia: You finished?
We got in the car.
Carnell: Yeah. I didn't find what I was looking for.
Alishia: Oh.
Carnell: Did you get what you wanted?
Alishia: Yeah.
Carnell: What did you even get?

Carnell: What do you need a new tongue ring for?
Alishia: I wanted a red one instead of gold, plus I need to clean to the gold one.
He started the car, switched gears and we went back to my house.
I went to the bathroom to change my tongue ring and pull my hair back in a ponytail. Afterwards, I walked upstairs to find Carnell in my room watching television all in my bed. I grabbed something I could go to to sleep in and went to the bathroom to shower and change. I came out the bathroom in this:
When I walked back in my room Carnell's jaw dropped.
Alishia: What's wrong with you?
Carnell: Nothing.
I rolled my eyes and walked over to the bed and layed down. I almost instantly fell asleep. But because, someone else was in the bed with me, I couldn't get all the way asleep. Thump! Thump! I guessed that Carnell kicked his shoes off because all of a sudden I could feel all of his muscular body on mine. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me super close to him. I felt so comfortable and safe in his arms, but I couldn't fall asleep, for that my sister or cousin would come in and snitch to our mom and dad. I got up and locked the door, to make sure that wouldn't happen. I got back and snuggled up to Carnell who had already fallen asleep. I had finally fallen all the way asleep with Carnell holding me. Trust and believe I was happy as hell!!
2nd PERIOD - ENGLISH
I walked in class and took my normal seat on the side of the class near the middle. There was a few people in the class already so I didn't mind being in there. Group by group people came in to class. By the second bell everyone was in class. Carnell took his seat next to mine and Rosie took her seat in the back of the class. Carnell took his notebook out of his backpack and scribbled something down before handing it to me. I opened the paper and read it.

I folded the paper up and put it in my pocket. Our teacher Mr. Washington passed out the tests. I read all the questions on the 3 page test before answering them. about halfway in to the class, Mr. Washington took attendance and I handed in me and Carnell's test, since we finished at the same time. I sat back down at my desk and pulled out my sidekick and turned the volume all the way down and started playing Bob's journey to the center of the earth, until my game was interrupted by a text message.

The bell rang interrupting our texting session we grabbed our things and left. Me and Carnell went to our locker to exchange books and whatnot.
3rd PERIOD - PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Alishia: I can't wait til school is over!
I re-applied my lip gloss in the mirror on the locker door.
Carnell: I can't wait for school to be out either. I'm glad it's Friday.
Alishia: I can't find find my shorts, I got gym next hour.
Carnell: Use my extra ones.
Alishia: Okay.
Carnell: What do you care about shorts anyways?
Alishia: Patrick wants me to come to gym today.
Carnell: Oh. Did he know what you were doing?
Alishia: No. It's none of his business.
Carnell: That's my cousin though.
Alishia: Then you tell him that I was skipping class to be with you.
Carnell: So I can hear his speech about education? I don't think so.
Alishia: You need anything out of here?
Carnell: My chemistry book.
I handed him the book and grabbed the black basketball shorts before closing the locker. We walked through the crowd of people to go to our classes. Carnell walked me to the gymnasium where Patrick met us at the door, ending our conversation.
Patrick: So, you finally decided to come to class!
Alishia: Yeah.
Patrick: You even had my cousin escort you.
Alishia: Yeah, something like that.
I gave Carnell a hug and told him I would see him at lunch. He left and I went to go change my clothes. When I came out the locker room Patrick was talking to Marcel, Kelly and Janice. I casually walked over to them as if I had no problem with what Marcel did this morning.
Alishia: Wassup y'all?
Patrick: Nothing just talking about stuff.
Alishia: Stuff like what?
Patrick: Nothing.
Alishia: Okay. Jan I talked to Ty this morning.
Jan: Really? What happened?
Marcel: Who's Ty?
Patrick: Their crazy big brother.
Jan: My brother is not crazy. He's just a little over protective.
Patrick: What made you talk to him?
Alishia: He's my brother and I had a problem this morning.
I eyed Marcel, to make sure he knew the problem I was talking about was him.
Jan: So, Ty is coming? Here?
Alishia: Yeah.
Jan: Today?
Alishia: Yeah.
Jan: When?
Alishia: Later.
The Gym teacher Mr. Smith came in and took attendance then told us that cause today was Friday that we could have a free day. Go figure, the one day I show up to class, we don't have to do anything. I decided to play basket ball for a little bit. After 10 minutes of shooting hoops I got bored and sat down with Jan and Patrick.
Alishia: Peanut, what are you and J doing for lunch, today?
Patrick: Staying here. I have a test in calculus today, and I can't be late.
Alishia: Good luck with that.
Patrick: What are you doing for lunch?
Alishia: Me and Carnell are going to McDonald's for lunch and then to the record store.
Patrick: They still have record stores?
Alishia: No, the C.D. shop, stupid.
Patrick: Whatever.
Jan: Don't call my boo stupid.
Alishia: Then tell Peanut to stop acting like it.
Patrick: I'm not acting!
Alishia: How did you even get into calculus?
Patrick: I'm good with numbers.
He smiled rally big and Jan kissed his cheek and hugged him. I grabbed my iPod* out of my back pack and turned it to I'll Make Love To You :] by Boyz II Men ad blasted it. The song was on so loud, If I didn't notice people leaving, I probably would have still been in the gymnasium day dreaming about Carnell singing to me. I know he's my best friend, but the way I feel for him, I want it to be so much more. I can't help how I feel about him. I went in to the locker room and changed back in to my pants and put on some deodorant and mat Janice and Patrick at the lunch table where everybody normally is.
LUNCH :]
Our friend Alexis was there with her boyfriend Dustin. She was about 7 months pregnant by him. I gave them hugs and sat down at the table next to Kelly and Rosie who were kissing.
Patrick and Jan started their little love thing. I felt sick to my stomach, all this love crap made me nauseous. I was happy for them but all the love was killing me, it was gross. someone covered my eyes just when I thought I was gonna puke.
?: Guess who?
Alishia: I give up.
I knew it was Carnell the whole time, he's the only person that does that to me. He moved his hands and pulled me up from the seat.
Carnell: You ready to go?
Alishia: Yeah. Watching these people is making me me want to throw up.
He took my hand and we left the building. We went to McDonald's and ate for about ten minutes and then we went to the record store, there were only 2 or 3 people in the shop, that's why we liked to go in there in the middle of the day. We walked in the shop and went our separate ways. I walked over to the hip-hop section and walked over to the R&B section. I picked up a random CD and pretended to read what was on the back before turning to look at Carnell. Only thing about it was that he wasn't even standing there anymore. I went back to looking the other Cd's.
I took my phone to look at the time, we had about 10 minutes to get back to school and we were way across town. I didn't even care, I was tired and I wanted to go home. I was bored of looking at the hip-hop Cd's so I walked up to the counter to see what magazines they had. Nothing interesting. I saw Carnell had walked back over to the R&B section of the store. I told him the time situation that I wanted to go home, he had no problem with taking his sweet ass to get back to school, but said he would take me home as soon as he found the CD he wanted. I told him that I was gonna go to the beauty supply store next door and get a few things.
I walked and went to the front counter to look at what new tongue rings they had, cause I wanted to change mine from a gold spike to a red one or black one. I twisted the carousel and there were no black ones so I picked the solid red one. Then I got some black nail polish and a few belts, payed for my items and walked out the store. I spotted Carnell walked to his car, so I hurried up and walked over.
Alishia: You finished?
We got in the car.
Carnell: Yeah. I didn't find what I was looking for.
Alishia: Oh.
Carnell: Did you get what you wanted?
Alishia: Yeah.
