After Alishia and Carnell left, Patrick and I had proceeded to the school library where he could study quietly for his calculus* test. I just read a book until the bell rang cause I don't know shit about calculus. I am happy for Patrick though, he's gotten really far in that class. I think he got a B on his last test.
Patrick walked me to my next class, which happened to be Algebra. I wasn't taking the class. I was the teachers' Aid. He kissed me quickly on the lips and told me he would see me later. When I got in the class the freshman's were acting like some damn fools. Including my little brothers. Bryan and Justin.
Jan: AYE!
They all got really quiet. I looked around the class. Mrs. Michaels, who happened to be Dustin's mom was no where to be found at the moment. I had to think of something for them to real quick, until she came back.
Jan: Look, Mrs. Michaels isn't in here right now and when she comes back she expects you to be working. The assignment is on the board. If you all promise to work quietly, you can listen to what ever music players you got. Or work quietly in groups.

Jan: Just do it!
They all scrambled around and got out their math text books and went to work. I sat down in a free chair near the door. I took a deep breath and sighed. I could feel someone staring at me. Piercing my flesh with their eyes. I looked up and saw my brothers staring down at me.
Jan: What?
Justin: We were wondering...
Bryan: Could we get a ride home?
Jan: I can ask Patrick. I can't guarantee that he will say yes , but I'll ask.
Bryan: Thanks.
Jan: Go sit back down before the teacher come back in here.
They went and sat back at their desks. I texted Patrick about the ride, he said yes. And before I knew it the end of the class had came and we had two class periods left.
I met up with Patrick and the twins. We all walked outside to Patrick's car. Normally, Carnell parks right next to Patrick. The last week or so I haven't seen his car out here, plus he's the only student to drive a red Cadillac Escalade* and I haven't really seen my sister around school much, or Carnell for that matter. She gonna hear it from me when I get home.
Jan: Patrick, you seen Carnell today?
Patrick: No, not since lunch.
Jan: I thought so. You know where he's at?
Patrick: If anything he's with your sister. So wherever she's at, he's likely to be close.
Jan: Okay.
Patrick: Why?
Jan: Oh. No reason.
We got in the car and Patrick drove back to my house. Justin and Bryan dipped out and ran in to the house. Patrick put his hand on the head rest and he turned my head with the other.
Patrick: Babe, what's wrong?
Jan: I really don't know. But I do know my sister buggin'. She been with your cousin all week.
Patrick: Their always together. What's so different about it now?
Jan: They don't skip school to be together, Patrick.
Just then Justin and Bryan came running out the house and got back in the car.
Bryan: [breathing heavy] Yo, Alishia and Carnell are in thier fucking.
Patrick: Wow.
Jan: Did you walk in on them?
Justin: No. We heard them when we ran upstairs.

I turned to Patrick and gave him a "I told you so," look. He just turned his head and drove off towards his house.
Justin: Where are we going?
Patrick: To my house.
Bryan: Is your sister gonna be there?
Patrick: Why?
Bryan: Cause she's cool. She's my friend.
Patrick: I don't know.
Bryan: I hope she's there. I don't wanna be stuck with Dior (Justin) all day.
Patrick: What you don't like your brother?
Bryan: I do, but he's annoying sometimes.
Justin: You do realize that I'm sitting right next to you.
Bryan: So?
Jan: Shut up Dior! You too Bryan. All that bickering is unnecessary!
Bryan: What's your problem?
Jan: I don't have a problem. I'm just hot and bothered.
Bryan: It is kinda hot.
He sat back in his seat and stared playing his Nintendo DS. So did Dior. I turned my head and looked out the window. About a half an hour later we arrived at Patrick's house. Bryan and Dior got out the car and ran up to he house. I got out the car and then Patrick. We walked up to the house and Patrick went up to the door and unlocked it. The boys walked in to the house, Dior went into the living room and Bryan went up stairs probably to see if Tricia was home. I highly doubt it though, she's probably at a dance practice or a rehearsal.
As I was walking towards the kitchen, where Patrick's mom was probably at, when someone tugged at my shirt which made me stop. I turned around and no one was standing there.
?: Down here.
I looked down and saw Patrick's little sister T.T. She was so cute and looked just like her big brother. She was 3 years old and stood at about 3ft and had long curly black hair. I picked her up,
Jan: Hey T.T.
T.T.: Hi J.
Jan: What's up?
T.T.: Are you gonna go to Patty's party?
Jan: Yeah. Are you gonna go?
I was joking with her.
T.T.: No. Patty says I'm too little to go.
Jan: Aw. Maybe next time.
T.T.: Yeah. Maybe.
She jumped down and ran into the living room. She likes Dior and is always messing with him. And he calls her his little girlfriend, cause she's a cute little girl. I heard her little voice and she was talking to him about her day in pre-school. I walked in to the kitchen and said Hey to to Patrick's mom.
P/M: Hey Janice.
She rinsed off her hands and came and gave a hug. She was cooking, baked macaroni and fried chicken.
Jan: How's it going Ms. Breeding?
P/M: Everything is going just fine. Did you run happen to run in to Tiara on your way in here?
Jan: Yeah. She's on the couch with Dior.
P/M: Your brothers are here too?
Jan: Yeah. I hope it's not an imposition, we're not staying long.
P/M: Oh, you know I don't mind. But do you mind going to get her, she left her Barbie's * on the table.
Jan: No problem.
I walked in the living room and T.T. was asleep, Dior was holding her and flicking channels on the television. Without making any noise to wake her up I walked past them and in to the dining room and cleared her Barbies off the table. I went upstairs and put them in her room. I walked past Tricia's room where the door was open Bryan was sitting on her bed playin video games. I walked in the room.
Jan: Where's Tricia?
Bryan: In the bathroom.
Jan: Okay.
I walked out the room and down the hall to Patrick's. I opened the door and Patrick was dancing around his room with no shirt on. I see him do it all the time so it doesn't really bother me. I closed the door and sat on the bed and watched him. His little dancing was cute. I cleared my throat and Patrick turned down the music and sat next to me on the bed.
Jan: What's T.T. tellin' me about a party?
Patrick: Oh, I forgot. I'm having a party next weekend. I thought I told you.
Jan: No. I would have remembered that,
Patrick: I could have sworn I told you.
He got up and went over to his phone.
Jan: What are you doing?
Patrick: Checking my out going texts. I swear I told you.
He stood fidgeting with he cell phone for a few minutes and then walked back over to me and showed me the phone. I looked at it real quick.
Jan: That's not me Pat. That's my sister!
Patrick: Really?!
He looked as shocked as I was. He looked at the picture on the phone. My sister and I may be identical but a dead giveaway to tell us apart is our eyes. Hers are green and mine are blue. And I didn't take the picture that was on the phone. Patrick stood staring at the picture on the cell phone. I'm just fed up. How do you get your girlfriend mixed up with her sister?
Jan: Do you like my sister?
Patrick: What?
Jan: I didn't stutter! Do you like her?!
Patrick: Hell no! Her attitude is fucked up.
Jan: So if her attitude wasn't fucked up you would like her?
Patrick: No.
Jan: Why?
Patrick: Because she's not you, Janice.
As much as Patrick jokes around and acts goofy I could tell by the sincerity in his voice that he was serious. Plus he called me Janice, he only uses my whole first name when he's serious about something.
Patrick: Janice Latrice Delorenzo, I love you and you know that.
Janice: What about the text message?
Patrick: The text message was sent to your sister by accident I only glanced at the picture before sending the text.
Janice: Promise?
Patrick: You got my word.
Janice: Okay.
I don't want to seem too gullible but he used the government name. I can't help it, I love the way my name sounds coming out of his mouth. It's so sexy, his deep voice saying my name. My whole name, Janice Latrice Delorenzo, was so sexy and no one said it like him. We sat quietly in his room for a minute.
Patrick: So, you mad at me?
Janice: No. I'm sorry that I yelled at you.
Patrick: I don't mind. Your sexy when your mad.
Janice: You are such a dork.
Patrick: I'm your dork though.
He smiled really wide before kissing me. I love his kisses, their so soft and tender. When he tells me he loves me I know he means it.
Patrick: I love you, Janice.
Janice: I love you too, Patrick.
KNOCK! KNOCK!

Patrick kissed me one more time before getting up. He grabbed a shirt and put it on as he opened the door.
Patrick: Sorry Mom.
P/M: Your cousin is on the phone.
Patrick: What cousin?
P/M: Carnell. He said he needed to talk to you and Janice needs to come home.
Patrick: Okay.
He walked out in to the hallway and peeked his head back in to tell me he would be back before closing the door and leaving. I texted Rosie to see what she was doing.
JanJan: Hey Rosie? What's good?!
Rizzo: This ain't a good time Jan.
JanJan: Well why the hell not?!
Rizzo: Just come home. I'll tell you when you get here.
Jan: Okay. I'll ask Patrick when he's done on the phone.
Rizzo: Kay. Peace.
I closed my phone and laid back on the bed. I listened to the music from the stereo. It was just and instrumental but the beat was calm and slow. Just what I need for the day I had. Which was hectic. I heard the door open I sat up and Patrick walked across the room and put on his sneakers.
Janice: What happened?
Patrick: I gotta take you home.
Janice: Okay.
He sounded kinda angry, I hope it wasn't no bad news when he was on the phone.
Janice: What's wrong Patrick?
Patrick: Nothing.
I stood up and grabbed my book bag off the floor. I followed Patrick out the room and down stairs in to the living room. Patrick picked his sister T.T. up off the couch and walked out side. I looked up so I could tell Dior to get Bryan and then come to the car. I saw Carnell instead of my brother.
Janice: What are you doing here?
Carnell: I should be asking you the same question.
Janice: I asked you first.
Carnell: It's my cousin house. I have every right to be here.
Janice: Well so do I.
I sighed heavily, he was making things so much harder then they needed to be.
Carnell: What are you getting all mad for?
Janice: I'm not getting mad. Your irritating me. I'm gonna leave before I end up in jail.
Carnell: In jail? For what?
Janice: Killin' yo mentally challenged ass!
Carnell: I am not mentally challenged! You can at least tell me why you actin all hostile.
Janice: Because! You fucked my damn sister!
Carnell: Tell the whole world Janice.
Janice: She had too many people break her heart. I'll be damned if I let you do it too!
Carnell: Hey, I didn't break anything. And I don't plan on it, either!
The yelling continued. You could probably hear it from three blocks away. You could hear both of our east cost accents clearly, because the demeanor changed right along with our tones.
Carnell: Your sister, my best friend? She's my girl now. I don't plan on changing it anytime soon. Because there's a big chance that we both might have made a mistake.
Janice: So being with my sister was a mistake?!
Carnell: No....
He was quiet now and I didn't quite catch the last part if his sentence.
Janice: What did you say?
Carnell: Your sister might be pregnant.
Janice: Aw hell naw! Nigga are you serious!? You got my sister pregnant!
?: J, we gotta go.
I turned around and Patrick had walked back in the house, with out his little sister.
Janice: I'll finish with you later, Carnell.
I walked past Patrick and out to the car. I got in the car and wouldn't have slammed the door if Patrick's little sister wasn't asleep. Dior and Bryan were in the back seat on either side of her.
Bryan: What's wrong with you Janice?
Janice: Don't worry about it.

He sat back in the seat as soon as Patrick had gotten in the car. I leaned against the window just as it began to rain. GREAT! Patrick started the car and drove off in the direction of our house.
Patrick: You mind if I drop my sister off at my dad's real quick?
Janice: No. I don't mind.
about ten minutes later we pulled up to this little blue house and Patrick got out the car. He went around the back and grabbed a backpack out of the back seat. Then he came around the other side and grabbed his sister. He walked up to the house real quick, rang the door bell and a tall slender man that looked like Patrick answered the door. He handed his sister to him, and the backpack. The exchanged some words and Patrick came back to the car. He opened the door and got in, wiping the rain dripping from hair on his forehead with his hand. He put the car in drive and we went back to my house with almost no stoplights. He parked in front of the house and my brothers got out the car and ran to the door. I kissed Patrick good-bye and told him to drive safe cause it started raining harder, and then I got out the car and quickly ran up to the door. I unlocked the door and let my brothers in, I waved to Patrick and walked in the house. Rosie was sitting on the couch in the living room.
Janice: Where is she?

about ten minutes later we pulled up to this little blue house and Patrick got out the car. He went around the back and grabbed a backpack out of the back seat. Then he came around the other side and grabbed his sister. He walked up to the house real quick, rang the door bell and a tall slender man that looked like Patrick answered the door. He handed his sister to him, and the backpack. The exchanged some words and Patrick came back to the car. He opened the door and got in, wiping the rain dripping from hair on his forehead with his hand. He put the car in drive and we went back to my house with almost no stoplights. He parked in front of the house and my brothers got out the car and ran to the door. I kissed Patrick good-bye and told him to drive safe cause it started raining harder, and then I got out the car and quickly ran up to the door. I unlocked the door and let my brothers in, I waved to Patrick and walked in the house. Rosie was sitting on the couch in the living room.

After school, I had to take the public bus home because Dustin had to work. I was so irritated, and it was so hot and stuffy on that bus. I damn near cussed out this man for crushing me when he sat down. I told him that I was pregnant and if my water he would delver my baby. He just got up and moved. I sat back and rubbed my stomach I know that my baby was as irritated and bothered as I was. My child is gonna have some type of horrible temper when he's born.
Now, I'm on the couch waiting for Dustin to get home. We live together in a small two-bedroom. I have the air conditioner on and I'm still hot. I turned on some music and I've got it blasting, it's about 5pm. I got up and went in the kitchen and made an egg sandwich. I miss not being pregnant, my feet and back didn't really hurt and I was mobile. I was always going places, now I can't go anywhere because Dustin don't let me and it hurts to much to move around alot. My feet and ankles are swollen and I've been wearing flip flops for the last two months. I can't wait till my baby is born. I can wear sneakers again!
I called Dustin's cell phone to ask him what time he was gonna be home, there was no answer. I didn't even bother leaving a message, what was the point? I turned off the music and went back to our room to change my clothes. I put on this:
It was far more comfortable than my jeans that I had been wearing. I laid down in the bed and went to sleep after putting my plate in the sink, I'd planned on washing later.

I turned over on my side towards the bedroom door. The only person that has a key is me Dustin and the Landlord for the building, but he don't ever come here except to pick up the rent, money hungry asshole.
I heard foot steps across the carpet and then I watched Dustin walk in and across the room, put down a box and walk back out. What the hell? I got up and followed him out the room and he went back to the front door and grabbed another couple boxes, they were small, he turned around and jumped when he saw me.Alexis: What's all this?
Dustin: Stuff for the baby. I was trying to be quiet, but I guess that didn't work.
Alexis: What stuff for the baby?
Dustin: A crib, a changing station, and a bunch of other stuff.
Alexis: Alright.
He walked past me with the boxes and into the other bed room. That was gonna be the nursery for the baby. The walls were white and the room was kind of empty. The room looked entirely to cramped after he put all those boxes in the room.
Alexis: What color is all this stuff?
Dustin: Most of it's white. Some is pink, some is blue.
Alexis: How much is blue?
Dustin: Just a little bit.
Alexis: Whatever. I don't want to argue with you.
Dustin: Why not?
Alexis: Well, for one that's how I got this way and for two, my water might break.
Dustin I remember that night.
He laughed to his self. I didn't get what was so funny, but it didn't amuse me. I just walked back in the room and laid down. I closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep, but the aching pain from the baby is starting to get me and I argue with people over the littlest things. Last week at lunch I argued with Rosie about some damn ketchup.
When I finally did fall asleep I was snatched away from my peaceful dream about cupcakes
by the most excruciating pain. I sat up and was in a puddle of water. I turned on the light in the room and realized my water had broke. I screamed which sent Dustin back here to check on me. Dustin: What's wrong? Why is the bed all wet?
Alexis: Dustin, the baby....
